Vessels, Open Spatial Laboratory 2024

Notes: The work arising within the Open Space Laboratory has a long-lasting character, with various groups of people and more-than-humans being able to enter it. It has the character of an open workshop – an event – testing (non)knowledge. The OSL framework represents an open process of embodied learning.

*All the works are produced in a small group together with our children (Váva 7. years & Elza 3. years) within the SWA curriculum.

We are immersed in our own disciplinary terrain. We are not only concerned with thinking of oceans as a subject of research, but as a space, tool and medium for thinking that leads to the expansion of ocean knowledge through a different type of knowledge.

Increasingly, we use different forms of immersion to better apply the methodology of encounters, because only then can we better observe and think with different species (or materials) and also use the multi-sensory experience of motion in the ocean.

These approaches, are not static, uniform or otherwise structured, but are constantly changing, as seamlessly as our swimming and other activities.

These work represent a set of knowledge, gestures and epistemological tools that can be obtained from seas, oceans and other marine-aquatic environments.
